Tour tips from the KolberbräuHistory: 400 years of the Kolberbräu in Bad Tölz
The term "Kolber" has been the house name of our restaurant and former brewery since 1600. In 1664 one of our ancestors, Georg Kolber, appeared as the first in the beer brewers' guild book – as a beer brewer, citizen of the Inner Council and mayor.
In the 17th and 18th centuries the brewery enjoyed a very good reputation and delivered its "barley juice" over the Isar to Munich. The Kolberbräu was once destroyed by a devastating fire in the city, but was rebuilt with a lot of energy and confidence and since then has been renovated several times.
More than 7 generations have already guided the fortunes of our former royal post office and shaped its development. The old Bavarian furnishings with their small antique treasures and guild signs, which have been collected and lovingly restored over the years, bear witness to the long-standing existence of Kolberbräu.
